MSC CHRISTMAS PARTY 2011

December 28, 2011 was the chosen date for this year's MSC christmas party. Our very industrious officers did a great job in organizing the games and food that were served at our feast! Thanks to some other generous members, there are other additions on the menu this year!

Okay... the party wasn't at all as extravagant as last year, but at least the group enjoyed the event. The creativity of the organizers manifested during the games that were really witty and at times hilarious!

There was also an opportunity for the members, both elders and the younglings to open up and voice out their thoughts on how we can further improve the group's dedication to service. I very much appreciated the younglings that found their voice and the courage to speak out.  We have many plans this year, plans to level up the voice training and activities to avoid losing the momentum but not burning out the members. Hopefully all will work out fine.

I am very optimistic about this year's outcome. With the help of my fellow concerned members, I believe that we will further improve this 2012 and the years to come.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

In spite of the many Christmas chores that I and my sister had gone through this year, not to mention my slight addiction to "TETRIS BATTLE" on Facebook, I will never pass off an opportunity to take the time out to throw out a special greeting to all the MSC's here and around the world...

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

MAY WE ALL BE BLESSED ALWAYS!!!

JUMP FOR JESUS

The Kerygma Feast of Valnzuela has been constantly growing in multitudes since its humble beginnings a few years back. People are starting to be enlightened of the many blessings and benefits a Christian could harvest in God's mighty kingdom.

In the spirit of the Christmas season, the builders of this community put up a Worship concert entitled "Jump for Jesus" that will be held on December 18 at SM Valenzuela Cinema 1 at 2:00 in the afternoon. Be prepared to be the "energizer bunny" on that day for it will be whole afternoon of music and worship  dedicated for the Lord!

MSC will be supporting the said event and will be singing during the Mass part preluding the concert proper. See you there!

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him and He helps me.
My heart JUMPS FOR JOY
and I will praise him with my song.

THE MSC CHRISTMAS PARTY 2010 - PART 5

The Maysan Senior Choir, under the leadership of two exceptional individuals, Annalyn (Alto) and Mark (Tenor)  has finally come to a close. Sad, but full of high hopes for future positive achievements for the group under the new reign.

Then came the last segment of the party. The election of the MSC President and Vice President for 2011 and 2012.

Yes, it is a two-year term. This rule started during Tita Lulu's (Soprano) term a few years back when the group was on the brink of devastation and we had no choice but to retain and rely on her leadership in order to survive. Fortunately, we did!... and with flying colors!

I may not call this a formal election because all of us knew who the next officers would be, thanks to my overly terrifying convincing skills. But honestly, I really wanted these people to win because I truly believe in them. And I'm sure the group will be in good hands.

The people I'm talking about are Jaypee (Bass) and Glady (Alto).

Jaypee was at the top of my list for president since the summer of 2010. I realized how hardworking he is! When we were in Bataan, he was truly a leader and a very industrious one at that! I just hope he will be able to cope up with the group's schedules and his present employment at Crown Plaza Hotel. Free accommodations everyone! (joke)

Glady on the other hand is also very responsible. She makes time to attend meetings with the Parish Council and never fails to give updates to her co-members in spite of her busy schedule as a company nurse. I also saw the "leader" in her for all her help as an aide to then President, Annalyn in calling out members to attend mass and rehearsals.

Like I said, I am very hopeful and happy that the choir could move on again with a new ray of light leading towards the group's path to further greatness.

Congratulations, Jaypee and Glady.
Thank you very much, Cocoy and Mackoy!
☺

THE MSC CHRISTMAS PARTY 2010 - PART 4

The traditional MSC IDOL came next after exhausting ourselves from all the fun games that Jaypee, Jeybi and Glady prepared for us that night.

Every member sung along with the music played from the videoke machine and will be judged according to voice quality and showmanship. This is actually not a contest but a way to gauge the singing progress of each and every member of the group.

The judges this year were Karesse (Soprano), Glenn (Tenor) and, as always, me.

Gerry (Tenor), our reigning IDOL finally gives up his crown to Kuya Arnel (Bass) this year. Followed by Cris Matus (Soprano) and Charles Cunanan (Bass). It was all good fun. No sore losers but only a realization of how important constant practice of singing skills is, especially when being a part of THE MAYSAN SENIOR CHOIR.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE WINNERS...
WELL... TO ME, YOU ARE ALL WINNERS!

THE MSC CHRISTMAS PARTY 2010 - PART 3

Then there were the games.

I was very fortunate to have captured most of the unforgettable moments that transpired at our party with my beloved nikon D5000. Whenever I catch scenes bursting with genuine emotions through my lens, I consider them priceless. Especially the happy ones.

The party games were quite different from last year as well.  Thanks to the newbies and younglings who poured out their fresh ideas on it.

Nothing beats a good dose of wholesome fun. And a break from all the seriousness of the world around us. Sometimes one would wish that life would just simply be a game that can be stopped at will whenever there is a need for a much needed break. What do you think?☺

THE MSC CHRISTMAS PARTY 2010 - PART 2

The Christmas Party officially kicked off at around half past eight which is indeed a big improvement from last year's time. I was even more pleased to find out that the younglings were already prepared with their games and programme. Especially the Hosts for the night, Jaypee and Glady!

Of course, our party won't start without a thanksgiving prayer led by Tito Oyet (Tenor).

There were lots of food and drinks for everyone! A lot of time and space to go about the function/garage area of my house for picture taking and bonding with one another. There were no serious matter that took place during this time and all were obliged to have fun. That was what this party is all about.

THE MSC CHRISTMAS PARTY 2010 - PART 1

The Day after Christmas. When all still have their holiday hangovers from the drinking spree they had the previous night. The 26th of December, the scheduled day of our party fell on a Sunday. So we still had to serve our 5AM scheduled Mass Service. I was quite eager to wake up that day. I knew that the members, especially the elders of the group are bound to make food preparations for the Christmas Party in the evening. And I gladly join them everytime. sort of a tradition on my part.

After the mass and breakfast, we went to Suki Market in Quezon City to buy ready-made Sushi and other ingredients for the food that we will serve at the party. I was quite surprised to find out that Suki Market was somehow at par with Farmer's Market in Cubao where there are  many things to buy especially when you are into asian and other oriental foods. But knowing that there are a lot of newbies and younglings in the group this year, we decided to serve the traditional.

Chicken Cordon Bleu was assigned to the Sopranos, Roasted Chicken for the Tenors, BBQed Pork Belly for the Basses and a refreshing Kani Salad for the Altos. There were some members who volunteered to contribute other foods too. Tita Lulu (Soprano) made us a big batch of Carbonara, Charles (Bass), who recently made a comeback, gave the group a special ice cream cake from DQ for dessert, chocolates and candy bars from Glenn (fresh from Singapore, Tenor) and as mentioned, a large platter of sushi from Tito Oyet (Tenor).

SIMBANG GABI 2010

The Misa de Gallo (Simbang Gabi) is here! Faithfuls devote nine masses in the evening or at dawn until Christmas Eve!

One scheduled mass I am very fond about this year is the Simbang Gabi held at the newly renovated Chapel in Maysan which is at 6:45 PM. When many people coming home from their day jobs could conveniently attend service and partake in the Holy Eucharist.

The things I miss the most during this season is seeing the people flock towards the church for "Simbang Gabi", the cool breeze of the December wind while faint sounds of Christmas carols play as I walk in the dark at the early hours of day. Then after the mass, a feeling of bliss, smelling the pleasant aroma of steaming puto-bumbong and bibinka at the sidewalks...

CHRISTMAS PARTY MEETING

On December 12, Sunday,  the officers and some elders of MSC decided to go for another food jamming session after rehearslas, this time at Starbucks Marilao, Bulacan, along the North Luzon Expressway.

The core wasted no time for this was also the perfect chance for us to talk about our upcoming traditional Holiday fellowship. We chose to have it post-yuletide since most of the members have their own company/family parties as well. What's  essential is the aim to celebrate the birth of our Lord, the day of our salvation whenever it may be. ☺

THE ANNUAL MSC CHRISTMAS-NEW YEAR PARTY 2009

On January 2, 2010, MSC held its annual Christmas Party at Tito Boyet's (Bass) family compound. After a blur of different personal Christmas activities of each member, I wondered if we could ever squeeze into our schedules, to organize even a simple get-together of our group. But because of the efforts of our President, Cocoy (SOPRANO) and Vice, Mackoy (TENOR), finally a party was thrown!

Even though the food prepared this year was simple, it is still awesome and very satisfying (compared to my New Year's eve meal! ahaha!). Each section handled a specific meal (as always!) although I heard that most of the work were made by Tita Lulu (soprano) and Tito Oyet (Tenor).
Our members always come up with games to help liven up the party a bit more! Karesse and Adie, made sure of the active participation of all the members in the games they prepared for the night. Unfortunately, since the games took a lot of the time, the annual MSC IDOL singing competition was not included in the programme this year. And Gerry (Tenor) would still retain the title of MSC idol!

The party lasted until the wee hours of the morning and we had an opportunity the re-evaluate our group and individual members' performances shortly after our traditional exchanging of gifts. The party ended as if on cue at 4:30 AM, just enough time to prepare for the 5:00AM scheduled Mass service.

Here's to a blessed year ahead, with more new talents and more fun-filled fellowships to come!
Cheers!

THE FEAST-VALENZUELA CHRISTMAS WORSHIP-CONCERT

For the first time, The Kerygma Feast-Valenzuela held a Christmas Worship-Concert at the Maysan Barangay Hall Covered Court on the 29th of December, 2009.
Many came out to attend and be blessed and what a relief seeing that even our families were there to support the event and the performers as well.

Our Music Ministry, comprises mostly of MSC members namely:
Bernard Que (Bass) on drums
Arnel Antonio (Bass) on guitar

VOCALS:

Karesse Marzan (Soprano)
Cocoy Amorin (Alto)
Jeybi Cruz (Bass)
Gilbert San Antonio (Tenor)
Jeff Bangay (Tenor)
Ivan Antonio (Tenor)
and US based honorary members, the mother-daughter team of Josie and Angeli Ferrer.

Some of our members come from the different choirs serving our local Parish. All united and willing to serve the Lord through music!
Special thanks to Tito Danny Añonuevo, our Music Ministry Leader and the rest of the Light of Jesus Community for making this endeavor possible and successful!

A CHRISTMAS GREETING

TO ALL MSC MEMBERS HERE AND AROUND THE WORLD...
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
MAY THE LORD SHOWER US ALL WITH ABUNDANT BLESSINGS ALWAYS!

EARLY BIRD

The group decided on having a different approach to the tardiness of the members during the services which has been a major problem of MSC for as long as I can remember. So on the 8:00PM mass on the night before Christmas, the first person who would arrive to church will be awarded 300 Php.

The very first member to be awarded with such is Jeff Bangay (Tenor)!

Congratulations! Keep it up!

I hope the other members would do the same with or without any form of incentive or penalties next time.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

CHRISTMAS WITH MSC 2009

Christmas 2009 for MSC wasn't at all that hectic compared to the previous years. Although many new songs intended to be sung specifically for this year's Christmas season were imposed by the Diocese.

MSC sung for the First night of the Misa de Gallo on the 16th of December and two more of the nine masses held at 4:00AM and was assigned to sing for the 8:00PM Mass on the 24th.

FLASHBACK: CHRISTMAS 2006 @ HILARIO'S SIZZLERS

The first ever "Big Gathering" held at the famous Hilario's Sizzlers Restaurant was the MSC Christmas Party of 2006, four months after the restaurant became operational.

It was MSC's first time to hold such an event at a restaurant. Thanks to some "influential" people (*cough) who managed to pull some strings in order for the group to exclusively enjoy the place, free of charge!
It was a gathering of sorts! Some attendees were even alum members from abroad who generously made time to partake in the occasion and share the Christmas spirit with the group they were once part of.

Most importantly, the active members had their well deserved Christmas treats after all their hard work.
