JOANNE'S WEDDING

On the 12th of November, 2011, another one of the beautiful daughters of Francis and Nhena Amorin got married at the Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish in Maysan, Valenzuela. The eldset of five children, Joanne was swept away by the love of Niño Tan and finally decided to tie the knot after being engaged for years.

It was a very happy moment for the Amorin family and it was such an honor that MSC was chosen to be a part of it. Preparations were done by MSC months before this big event and thankfully, the group managed to fulfill its duties by singing successfully on that wedding day same as when Heidy "Badek" Amorin, sister of the bride got married to Marvin Patawaran a few years ago.

A shy but very beautiful Joanne emerged from the big gates of the church accompanied by her loving sister and Maid of Honor Annalyn and the her parents a well while the groom, in his elegant suit awaits to meet her at the altar.

I was truly amazed by the efforts of my choir to have dressed to the nines that day. For a moment there I thought that the MSC could truly pull off being a respectable and well-mannered group (ahaha!). Even the guys dressed up nicely that day inspite of the extreme afternoon heat experienced by all of us at church.

The wedding reception was the the Light of Love Events Place somewhere in E. Rodriguez Avenue in Quezon City. The place was like a giant garden with a building at the center that could probably hold 5 to 10 different events all at the same time. The trees surrounding the place were filled with lights that looked like fireflies when viewed from afar. It was magical and nothing short of amazing!

The function room chosen to hold the now Mr. and Mrs. Niño Tan was cozy and not that big, just enough  to accommodate a few chosen loved ones including us, of course! The food was great, as always. The guests can freely go outside to enjoy the surroundings and the other things the couple's family has set up for us like the photobooth and the mobile bar!

(Do you think they with soon get married as well? Ask Tito Francis about it!)

CONGRATULATIONS JOANNE AND NIÑO!!!

MSC TIES UP WITH THE FEAST

Because of the recent events regarding MSC's deprivation to serve at our home church for the next three months, my choir decided to collaborate with THE FEAST Valenzuela Chapter. In the coming months, we will be serving as alternate choir during the Mass Part of the Feast every Sunday at Cinema 1, SM Hypermarket, Valenzuela.

This is not the first time for MSC to do this. The group has been invited to sing at THE FEAST several times before. This will also serve as a sanctuary for the group where we will be free from any persecution, reprimands, degradations and punishments! A place of worship where everybody is welcomed and encouraged to serve the "Mighty Kitchen" of THE FEAST Community.

I am very certain that this will be a fruitful experience once again for MSC.

GOD BLESS THE FEAST!

TEY'S WEDDING DAY

The most special day in Tey's life has finally come to pass on a beautiful Saturday morning, January 22, 2011 at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish Church. It was rainy the previous night and I was worried it would still be the same atmosphere the next day. Fortunately, good weather turned up the next morning.

The wedding celebration was attended by close friends and family of Tey and Ramir. Tey's ever loyal MSC family was present to sing for her as well. It was a bit tiring on my part doing multi-tasking. I had to amke sure that ALL my duties as secondary sponsor and choir conductor are well properly delivered. I had to run around in church, literally.

The reception followed at the Multi-Purpose hall of OLHRP. Some of MSC had already left for their other duties and engagements for the day. It was a good thing that they made it to wedding mass (whew!). But most of us stayed to partake on the feast prepared by the newlyweds. Most of the guests were actually already too anxious to approach the buffet table for it was already way past lunch time.

The party was an array of emotions. Seeing Tey and her hubby from were I was seated tells me that they were having a blast at their own wedding party. They made sure to entertain all who came and had their pictures taken with them. Tears poured down Tey's eyes when it was her time to give her message to her guests and family at the latter part of the program which only shows how thankful she is for how her wedding turned out.

I left with a smile stamped on my face thinking that my cousin, friend and co-MSC, Tey has finally found someone to share her life and dreams with forever!

Best wishes... ☺

ANOTHER MSC @ THE KERYGMA FEAST MOMENT

MSC has been out of the Church scene for two consecutive months now (at least until the end of October). We were given a two-month break from service by the OLHRP Church council due to some not-so-clear reasons... Something about delinquency, I think (ahaha!). But it wouldn't stop MSC from serving the Lord even at another venue for sure!

MSC has been invited once again to sing for the Holy Mass part of the weekly spiritual talk at SM Valenzuela by the Kerygma Feast Organizers. Somehow this new routine also breaks us away from the weekly habit we always did ever since we became MSC. Thank you Kerygma for the trust and Godbless!

THE PATAWARAN-AMORIN WEDDING

The much anticipated wedding of 2010 has finally arrived! Heidy Amorin (A.K.A. Badek), sister of MSC President Cocoy finally tied the knot with long-time boyfriend, Marvin Patawaran. MSC have known this couple for quite sometime already after frequent encounters at the Amorin residence on special family gatherings.

The Wedding was held at the OLHRP church and MSC was invited to sing during the Holy Mass. We began our rehearsals for this event weeks ago. We even conducted extra practice days for this so we can be fully confident with our songs.

Reception followed at the Sulo Hotel in Quezon City. Food was great! The Emcee was fantastic with his funny antics and gimmicks to liven up the Wedding Party. There were other singers too that added more flair to the occasion as well as a couple who offered a vibrant ballroom dance number! One of the best part at the reception was the Photobooth where guests were encouraged to give their most glamorous poses to the camera, complete with hats and props, that would instantly be printed. Voila! An instant souvenir for all the attendees!

Special thanks to the newly weds! Congratulations and God bless your new life as husband and wife!

Do I hear wedding bells ringing for another Amorin Lady? Let's just wait and see...

MSC SINGS AT THE FEAST AGAIN!

On August 15, MSC was invited to sing for the Mass Service at SM Valenzuela. Although only a few members came for it was a Sunday, the choir did pretty good!

Many attended last Sunday's Feast. Mostly from the youth sector. Somehow this tells me that we are definitely on the right track, thank GOD!

SISTER YOYO'S SILVER JUBILEE

On June 26, 2010, Sr. Yolanda Dionisio, celebrated her 25th Feast day as a nun at the Queen of Apostles Sanctuary (Daughters of Saint Paul).

How time flies, I realise, as I was trying to construct this entry. How twenty-five years ago, I used to spend a whole lot of time with Ate Yolly (as we, her cousins call her then). I would go to her place everyday after school and  practically stay there the whole afternoon. As a kid, I would have my lunch there, complete with shower, napping, the joyrides on their jeep or pick-up truck where ever, and even feeding their pet pigs and other livestocks.

After a time, to a child's mind, for me it was as if she just disappeared! I never got to see her again. Little did I know that as we were hanging out fine together, she was already in for a calling that would change her life forever!

I remember going to this place in Pasay, where there were lots of ladies with their hair covered with blue veil. Much like the nuns I see in school except that the ones at school wore veils colored black! It was there that I found out, that Ate Yolly became a nun!

And now after 25 years, MSC had the honor of being invited to this important day in Sister Yoyo's life. We sang for her at her Thanksgiving Mass which was attended by her whole Daughters of Saint Paul family and her invited friends and loved ones outside the convent.

It is really admiring how people like them chose to spend their whole lives praying and serving the Lord...  I pray that my choir would have this same devotion in serving God in our own way...

THE KERYGMA FEAST'S 6TH YEAR IN OLRP

The Kerygma Feast of OLRP celebrated its 6th Year Anniversary on the day of the Pentecost.

The Pentecost is the seventh Sunday after Easter, where Catholics commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Disciples of Jesus Christ. The disciples began to speak in many languages, a sign that the disciples must represent Jesus in delivering the GOOD NEWS in other parts of the world, thus marking the birth of the Christian Church in this world! And what a way to celebrate our PAPURI Feast Anniversary on the same day Christianity was born!

It was, as it always has been, an ultimate spiritual experience for MSC members who were part of the Music Ministry of the Feast as well as the whole congregation.

FEAST-TAS!

As we get ready for the coming month of June and all the fiestas and May Flower festivals have almost all been over and done with, there is still one more celebration in our community left that is yet to look forward to! The Kerygma PAPURI FEAST!
Last night, we, the MUSIC MINISTRY of the FEAST had our final rehearsals for the much anticipated Spiritual Gathering on Saturday, May 30, which is also the anniversary since the time the Kerygma Feast first landed in our area.
In the middle of this process of rehearsing and fine-tuning our songs for the event, I learned a valuable lesson from our Worship Leader, Bro. Danny Anonuevo. That the purpose of our group is to MINISTER the congregation to sing praises to the Lord and be inspired by the message of the songs that we sing and not just to PERFORM like singing in a concert.

This month's FEAST will be held at the Valenzuela City Center for the Arts at 6:00PM. Hopefully many would come and be blessed.

WEDDING SINGERS

MSC gets a lot of invitations to sing for friends on special occasions. Like for instance, weddings. This was at the St. Peter the Apostle Parish Church in Manila about two years ago when my college best friend asked me to bring a "knockout choir" to sing for her wedding both in the ceremony and the reception. MSC surely heeded the call and brought it on, of course!

It was double duty for me, Mike and Kuya Arnel at the Ramon Magsaysay Center, Roxas Blvd., where the reception took place. I had to sing a couple more songs with two outstanding guitarits by my side.
This is a great honor for me and also, MSC's chance to sing in other churches and places as well. So far, two of my closest college friends have already asked MSC's services. I wonder if there would be more.

MEANNE'S WEDDING - PART 4

MSC had the privilege of providing the entertainment for the dining guests at the reception of Meanne and Don's wedding.

I sent "super singers" (uhrm!... cough!) to sing lovesongs to provide the musical flair while the guests merrily enjoy their sumptuous meals. If it wasn't Meanne herself who got married, I would've asked her to sing as well! But her sister Joanne easily evened up the task!

Special thanks to kuya Arnel and Mike (Carag) for the guitar accompaniment and Angie for always generously sharing to us her magnificent voice. Thank you Tatay Boyet and Tito Francis (Cocoy's Dad) for the traspo provided to get to our destinations.

MEANNE'S WEDDING - PART 3

After the wedding ceremonies comes the reception. "Bahay ng Tsinoy" was the place. Nice ambiance, cool and cozy.
The traditional presentation of the newly-weds literally got me stoked! It's like witnessing a new life for Meanne and Don unfold right before my eyes while they were coming down separately on two elegant staircases! They're like "Perfect strangers" moving on as life-long partners!

CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES
DON AND MEANNE!

MEANNE'S WEDDING - PART 2

I am always awed by the magnificence of the Manila Cathedral. Which I learned that the correct way to address it is as THE MANILA METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL-BASILICA! A magestic name that matches the magestic structure teeming with rich culture and history.

This is the church Don and Meanne chose to exchange vows with one another. This was also where Tatay Boyet chose to marry Tita Melody.

MSC chose to stay put at this holding room while we wait for the Wedding Ceremonies to start. We wasted no time and started practicing our songs.

MSC is humbled and grateful that we had the privilege of singing for the couple on the happiest day of their lives!
HISTORICAL FACT: The Last time MSC got to sing at the Manila Cathedral was when we were still under the teachings of Sir Roni Verga which was more than a decade ago.
