SISTER YOYO'S SILVER JUBILEE

On June 26, 2010, Sr. Yolanda Dionisio, celebrated her 25th Feast day as a nun at the Queen of Apostles Sanctuary (Daughters of Saint Paul).

How time flies, I realise, as I was trying to construct this entry. How twenty-five years ago, I used to spend a whole lot of time with Ate Yolly (as we, her cousins call her then). I would go to her place everyday after school and  practically stay there the whole afternoon. As a kid, I would have my lunch there, complete with shower, napping, the joyrides on their jeep or pick-up truck where ever, and even feeding their pet pigs and other livestocks. 

After a time, to a child's mind, for me it was as if she just disappeared! I never got to see her again. Little did I know that as we were hanging out fine together, she was already in for a calling that would change her life forever!

I remember going to this place in Pasay, where there were lots of ladies with their hair covered with blue veil. Much like the nuns I see in school except that the ones at school wore veils colored black! It was there that I found out, that Ate Yolly became a nun! 

And now after 25 years, MSC had the honor of being invited to this important day in Sister Yoyo's life. We sang for her at her Thanksgiving Mass which was attended by her whole Daughters of Saint Paul family and her invited friends and loved ones outside the convent. 

It is really admiring how people like them chose to spend their whole lives praying and serving the Lord...  I pray that my choir would have this same devotion in serving God in our own way...   

25th YEAR @ THE DAUGHTERS OF SAINT PAUL MONASTERY

On the 26th of June, MSC will be singing for the Thanksgiving Mass of MSC Alum Sr. Yolanda "Yoyo" Dionisio. She used to serve OLHRP as a choir member of MSC under the direction of the late Sir Roni Verga. Now, she celebrates her 25th Feast Day as a true servant of the Lord being a Sister (Nun) of the Daughters of Saint Paul Monastery. 

DRA. CELIA MENDOZA: MD OF MSC!

The first Medical Doctor of MSC, Dra. Celia Mendoza.

She is a surgeon at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in the city of San Juan.

As a child, I used to see her with the choir along with my elder cousins as they sing during the masses on Sundays and even the evening masses during the week. She is also very active helping out organizing events like during our town fiestas and major Catholic holidays.

After her choir days, she never stopped serving the church. She even went further to being a vital part of the Liturgical Committee in OLRP. She is very strict when it comes to church affairs but underneath that is a very compassionate and sweet person, ready to lend a hand especially to those who are in need of medical help.

CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP

Now, here is one alum MSC is definitely proud of. He is Barangay Maysan's Captain Eric Urrutia. He used to be MSC's organist and has great vocal chops too as one of the Basses of the group! He still helps out with our affairs in whatever way he can. And he definitely stays grounded in spite of his present status.

Over the years, MSC never ceases to produce a lot of major achievers not only confined within the realms of the church but the world of politics as well!

SISTER YOLLY DIONISIO

Sister Yolly Dionisio is one proof of MSC's long existence in OLRP. She is an MSC alum under Sir Roni Verga in the time when our parish was still in the process of formation.

"Ate Yol", as we, her cousins and her MSC co-members call her, would always be seen smiling at people and is very much approachable, contrary to the image of a typical nun we certainly are aware of. But her faith is an entirely deep and serious matter! She went all the way in serving the Lord by being a Nun of The Daughters of Saint Paul Convent!

Not so many people choose to hear and respond to a Divine calling such as this. MSC is proud of her!

SUNSET SHORES VILLAS -- SUMMER OF '09

So finally, a little rest and relaxation during the Holy Week break. Remember that I mentioned about going to Bataan for an ocular inspection of the venue for our family/company excursion? So this was it. Apparently, since most of my social life has something to do with members of my choir one way or another, I might as well share something of what transpired during this particular outing.

Of course my, brother, Arnel was there with me with his wife and kids, Ryan, since his father is part of our family business...

The sunset was spectacular there, no wonder they called the place "Sunset Shores Villas".
