MACKOY'S BIRTHDAY 2008 (VIDEO)

This is yet another salvaged video from my archive of goodies in my PC. The period was around September of 2008 when the choir went to attend mass at Valle Verde in Pasig City, since we didn't have any scheduled service in our local church that particular Sunday.
This was also Mackoy's Birthday that we celebrated at Gerry's Grill in Greenhills right after the mass at Velle Verde...
Please feel free to visit the other blog regarding this event entitled "MARK JOHN'S BIRTHDAY".

JAMMING ALL THE WAY HOME

Video taken in the van while driving to manila after an overnight summer excursion in Laguna (June12 to 13, 2009).

Thank you, Meanne for taking this video!!! Cheers!!!

MSC MOVIE??

There's a new movie coming out!
Filled with
PASSION,
SEDUCTION
&
SENSUALITY!

Haha! Not! This is just a couple of MSC guys horsing around! No dirty tricks, just pure fun!
Cheers MTRCB!!! *wink wink

LEARN TO FOLLOW STREET SIGNS

This is one example of two citizens following street signs... Literally...
Taken at a gas station along South Expressway (post-outing pittstop)

TOO EARLY FOR HOLLOWEEN?

An MSC member with a very peculiar piece of clothing (undergarment is more like it...) over his eyes, almost covering his whole face.
A few touch-ups here and there... Voila! A new Superhero!!!

FEEDING PROGRAM

There was a FEEDING FENZY at the Shell Gas Station along the northbound lane of the South Expressway. A big batch of Chicken Macaroni Soup served in white disposable bowls by Ate Josie for us, hungry travellers. Reminds me of the feeding programs NGO's conduct in front of Quiapo Church every morning for the less fortunate children. (*ahaha)

The MSC Annual Summer Excursion is always about family, faith, responsibility, unity and most especially... FOOD!

Until next year...

MSC SUMMER 2009 PART 6: BACK TO THE REAL WORLD

By 5:00 PM, after a bit of haggling with the caretakers of the resort for a free extension while we clear out the place, it was time to say goodbye to Villa Maginhawa and we were once again, on the road. The road that had no choice but to lead us to the real world.

Thinking of coming back to work or school is always a drag after a very enjoyable trip with the people we love to hang out with. But at the same time, it is exciting to come home to the people eagerly waiting to hear our stories about our latest adventure, in a seemingly unending narration of sorts.

The outcome of this trip was more than I ever expected by a mile!!! The Maysan Senior Choir is grateful to the people who made this trip possible, fun and worthwhile! We are deeply touched by the MSC members working abroad who graciously shelled out some cash to help out with the expenses, the members and their families for their awesome support (and additional foods). Makes me think that everything that MSC does, MATTERS.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH EVERYONE!!!

GOD BLESS US, MORE!

MSC SUMMER 2009 PART 5: SWIMMING IN THE RAIN

Figuring out how to devour a big, whole pot of Tito Oyet's Sinigang na Salmon sa Miso is like a no-brainer thingy for MSC! For four years now, it has been a tradition for him to cook this special dish as his way of throwing a birthday blow-out for us! The way it was hogged up by the members was so fast that I wasn't even able to take a picture of it for fear that this soupy-sour dish would run out!

After lunch, my mind struggled to decide whether to go upstairs and take a power nap before we hit the 4:00 PM limit (resort policy) or dive back into the pool since my mind was set to really get a tan ever since we planned this excursion. And the glassy-blue water of the swimming pool proved to be more inviting than the cot!

The sun was searing-hot, as well as the water (hot springs). Too hot for me to handle, almost. But just as I was about to give up from it, the sky went dark as if the clouds decided to converge directly above my balding head and I suddenly started feeling the cool breeze brushing my back. Then, before I could even say "uh-oh", the rain began to pour! And lo, the other sleepy-heads began to crawl out of their bunks and changed into their swimming gear in a jiffy to join my solo moment with the pool and rain!

The contrasting temperature was simply heaven! The cool rain, mixing with the hot water of the pool in a chaotic fashion is like a surprise of hot and cold sensations one after another! And the raindrops colliding with the net above the pool produce a gentle mist that further adds to the "spa-like" feeling that all of us felt that time. Even the pool slide was a box-office hit!

The rain lasted a few minutes, enough for us to linger a bit more. Then, it was time to face the bitter truth that this excursion is coming to a close...(continued)

MSC SUMMER 2009 PART 4: THE MORNING AFTER

By 2:00 AM, the party was officially over. It was time to call it a night and go to bed. Although there were rumors going around within MSC that there was a mysterious being roaming around the kitchen checking if there were still some food left to be eaten. Certainly it wasn't a ghost but a tabby cat named Pimie, notoriously known for her after hour indulgences which she has done even during our previous overnight affairs!

By 6:00 AM, I decided to get up and check whether there were already some people awake downstairs. And to my surprise, the sunny kitchen was already bustling with activities! Eggs, beef tapas and longganisas were already frying away! Even the fried (adobo) rice was in the process of perfection while some of the members patiently wait in front of the TV sipping their hot coffee until all were awake and the food, ready to be served.

Then came the atomic bomb of the kitchen... The cooking of Danggit! I remember seeing some of the members rushing away from the kitchen in an effort to dodge from the grasp of the foul, fishy smell of this Cebuano specialty. But you'll forget the smell of it after you've tasted it for sure!

Cheers to the people who prepared all of these food! The hands that brought a culinary throwdown that I was so honored to witness that day. A big breakfast buffet, complete with stylish presentation that would take TAPAKING down from his thrown! It certainly was a meal too hard to pass off. What a way to start the day! (continued)

MSC SUMMER 2009 PART 3: SWIM, EAT, DRINK & BE MERRY!

After our hearty lunch (hearty: when the cholesterol begins to wrap around your heart's aorta after too much intake of oily foods) and the group has already been full, settled and relaxed, some members carried on with their karaoke concert marathon, some dived into the pool for a nice, warm afternoon swim (the pool water comes from the hot springs of Mt. Makiling by the way) while the others dozed off for a nap to gear up for the anticipated party-all-night later on.
And by dusk, when yet after another sumptuous dinner was over and done with, indeed the resort went on to a full blown party atmosphere!

And what party would it be without some booze prepared by our very own in-house "tanggera", Pimie? But compared to last year's "drinking session", this one's a bit milder. Many of the members opted to swim and horse around the pool and make exhibitions with the pool slide rather than get drunk which was good, for no one plans to clean after another one's vomit due to too much drinking anyway, right? (*wink wink) (continued)

MSC SUMMER 2009 PART 2: VILLA MAGINHAWA

After approximately two hours on the road and a couple of pittstops, we finally arrived to the province of Laguna where there is a place known in the tourism industry for their Resorts and Hot Springs.

Like we usually do for the past FOUR years, we drive around looking for a vacant private resort in the neighborhood that would be suitable to accommodate the choir overnight and has the best price! The hunt for the best resort thus ended when we landed a great deal with the caretakers of Villa Maginhawa Resort.

Villa Maginhawa is a handsome big two-storey house. It is big enough to fit two to three sets of living room sofa both up and downstairs, complete with a lot of recreational "toys" like pool tables, foosball and karaoke. Upstairs were three air conditioned rooms for a comfortable sleep. Most of all, a big swimming pool right by the patio that all of us couldn't wait to dive in!

But before we give in to the tempting sight of this swimming pool outside and go wet and wild, our late lunch was of highest priority! (continued)

MSC SUMMER 2009 PART 1: LAGUNA HERE WE COME!

At long last! The much anticipated activity of the summer season for MSC has arrived! The MSC Summer Extravaganza 2009 that all of us have been beggin' to happen since Holy Week!!!
After weeks and weeks of planning and preparation, not to mention my blogs screaming for some R & R, MSC had its annual summer activity in the province of Laguna (again?) on June 12 (holiday/ Philippine Independence Day), 2009. It's an overnight affair where we rent a private resort complete with amenities of a home away from home. This is the time the members get to relax amongst each other, have fun and live like a real family even if it is limited to only a day and a few hours.

The long journey to Laguna starts at Hilario's Sizzlers Restaurant on the morning of June 12 when all the members assembled at seven o' clock or at least tried to (ahaha!).

We had two stop-overs on this trip. One was at Wartermart in Quezon City to buy last minute food and drinks and the other one was at a gasoline station along the South Expressway for bathroom breaks and to grab a bite at the surrounding fast food chains in the area. (continued)
